Possibly the hardest decision church leaders can face is whether to let their church close. When a church's leadership becomes convicted that things must change, the first step is often to consider revitalization..."how do we turn things around...how do we change our culture...how do we become more outreach focused...how do we grow?" In some cases, churches decide the best thing for the Kingdom is to shutdown and use the church's assets to start a brand new work (a new church plant). Over 2,400 churches are making this decision each year. Its not an easy choice, but as we read in Ecclesiastes 3:1-2, to everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: a time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted. Solomon probably had no idea how prophetic his words would be to church planting today! The legacy of the first century church leaders lives on even though their churches are no more. Life. Death. Life. Death. New churches are born from old. The old gives way to the new. We often mistakingly see the church as a building or a group of people gathering in a specific location. But God has grown and expanded the church without boundaries through the faithfulness of people unconstrained by buildings or places. Throughout history, the legacy of the old is through the birth of the new. How do we help? If you've made the touch decision to close, Church Legacy Solutions can come alongside you to help.
